White Sandwich Bread

This white sandwich bread is so easy to make and the result is unbelievable. I don’t buy bread anymore I simply make this once a week and were good for 5 days.  If you don’t have a stand mixer you can still make this recipe by hand but you have to knead the dough about 100 extra turns. This recipe will make one loaf if you like to make more at the same time just double the amounts using the "Adjust Servings " feature above the ingredients.
Servings: 1 yield(s)
Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 45 mins
Ingredients
  • 2 1/2 cup bread flour or all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk (heated to 120-130° F)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or any vegetable oil)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup additional flour
Instructions
  1. In a small bowl mix in together milk, sugar, and yeast and cover with plastic wrap and set aside.
  2. After 15 minutes, place flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Stir in milk mixture, followed by oil and egg.
  3. Beat on high for 2 minutes. On low speed add about 1/4 cup additional flour until dough forms a mass.
  4. Place dough on a floured surface and knead 50 turns. Cover and let rest 10 minutes.
  5. Shape dough into a loaf and place in a greased bread loaf pan. Cover and let rise in a warm spot until it’s one inch taller than the pan, about 35 minutes.
  6. Meantime, preheat oven to 375° F.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes. After the first 15 minutes, I cover the top of the loaf with a foil tent to prevent over-browning.
  8. Remove from oven and brush the golden top with olive oil or vegetable oil for shine.
  9. Let it cool down a minimum of 15 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
